Grove Stay Google Ads case study: fully booked, most days, on autopilot

Grove Stay is a stay property that needed one thing from Google Ads: the phone to ring. In July 2026 we ran two campaigns at once — one built to capture travellers searching from Bangalore, one built to catch anyone within 50km already looking for a place to stay nearby. Throughout the month, most days were pre-filled and fully booked.

Two campaigns, one goal: the phone rings

Most Google Ads accounts chase clicks. This one was built around a single question: is someone within reach of Grove Stay looking for a stay right now?

  • Campaign 1 — Bangalore capture: targeting travellers actively searching for a getaway from Bangalore, the property's single biggest source city.
  • Campaign 2 — 50km local radius: catching anyone within 50km already searching for a nearby stay, so Grove Stay shows up at the exact moment of intent.

Both campaigns were optimized for calls and enquiries, not landing page clicks — for a property business, a click means nothing until it becomes a phone call.

Straight from Google Ads

6.83k clicks, 57.9k impressions, at an average ₹5.47 cost per click — ₹37.4k total spend for the period. No cherry-picked screenshot, this is what the dashboard shows.

Optimized for Calls, Not Clicks

The proof isn't the dashboard. It's the call log.

This is what the campaign actually produced — a call log stacked with enquiries inside a single afternoon. Names and numbers are redacted for privacy, but the volume speaks for itself. When a Google Ads account is built around calls instead of clicks, this is what "working" looks like in practice.

Why it worked: intent over reach

A property doesn't need everyone to see the ad — it needs the right handful of people to call. Splitting Bangalore (a known source city) from a tight 50km local radius (immediate, spontaneous intent) meant every rupee of the ₹37.4k spend was chasing someone who was actually close to booking, not just browsing.

Frequently asked questions

How did Grove Stay use Google Ads to stay fully booked?

Two campaigns run at once in July 2026: one capturing travellers searching from Bangalore, and one targeting anyone within a 50km radius already looking for a stay nearby. Both were optimized for phone calls and enquiries rather than clicks, since that's how bookings actually happen for a property like this.

Does Google Ads work for a local business, not just ecommerce?

Yes — Search campaigns targeting high-intent, local keywords typically outperform broader awareness channels for local service and hospitality businesses, because the person searching is already looking for exactly what you offer, in your area, right now.

Who is the best Google Ads agency in Kannur?

Webopics is a Kannur, Kerala-based agency running Google Ads alongside Meta Ads and Shopify CRO for local and D2C businesses, with published account results rather than platform-reported estimates.

The lesson

A Google Ads account optimized for the wrong goal makes a hospitality business chase traffic it doesn't need. Optimized for calls, against the right radius, it fills the calendar instead.
